Q.
When will No Pass/No Drive be implemented in schools?
A. Beginning August 1, 2007, schools will
use information (attendance and grades) from the fall of 2007
to determine if students are in compliance.
Q.
Are all schools required to implement the NP/ND law?
A. Yes, including all public, private, home
schools and Job Corps in Kentucky.
Q.
What does a student need from his/her school in order to get
an original learner’s permit?
A. The school will issue a School Compliance
Verification Form.
Q.
Does NP/ND only apply to 16 & 17 yr old students who receive
their permit on or after August 1, 2007?
A. Yes, once a student reaches his/her 18th
birthday, the law does not apply.
Q.
Can a student be reported to the Division of Driver Licensing
as soon as the student reaches 9 unexcused absences?
A. Yes, the school can report as soon as
the 9th absence occurs.
Q.
How long are students considered noncompliant?
A. Students are considered noncompliant until
they become compliant or reach age 18.
Q.
If a student received their permit before August 1, 2007,
will they ever have to participate in this program?
A. No.
Q.
If a student has already dropped out, graduated from high
school or is working on their GED and is 16 or 17 years old,
what do they need to take to the clerk offices to obtain their
permit?
A. The regulation states that a minor shall
submit to the clerk one of the following: proof of graduation
from high school, proof of having received their GED, or a
School Compliance Verification Form.
Q.
When the School Compliance Verification Form is presented
by the student at the time of permit issuance, will the student
have to present the form again when they receive their license?
A. No. They will only present the form when
they apply for their permit.
Q. Where do students of private schools and home schools
get the School Compliance Verification Form?
A. Private school students may obtain the
form from the school. Home school students may obtain the
form from the Board of Education office in the county of residence.
Private/home school students must have the school information
completed by the designated representative of the private
school/home school. The home school section must be certified
by the DPP/NPND district contact.
